House #81

Nearly a half mile of Northern Lake Michigan shoreline…twenty acres of cedars, pines and native wetland grasses…a client inspired by simple modern architecture…and a goal to “create a place that family and friends want to return to year after year.”

Thankful for this tremendous opportunity and thrilled to share the initial design concepts for House81.

The main home features three simple masses linked by a glass hallway and elevated above the natural landscape on a gabion wall base with stones harvested from the site. Also featuring floor to ceiling glass windows with uninterrupted panoramic views of Lake Michigan, as well as rust colored weathering steel cladding intended to complement the dense evergreen backdrop.

Still early…but excited to see where this one goes.
