Northern Michigan isn’t just where we work…
it’s where we live.
North45 architecture is based in Petoskey Michigan, a quintessential resort town on the south shore of Little Traverse Bay, just north of the 45th parallel and completely surrounded by everything that is “Up North”. The studio itself is located within a small, custom designed home office, fifty feet from home, one block east of Petoskey’s Historic Gaslight District and a quarter mile from the turquoise blue of Lake Michigan.
The studio design is a simple gable structure which features wide plank circular sawn barnwood cladding salvaged from the original carriage house which previously occupied the site, placed atop a rustic overgrouted stone base which is contrasted against sleek black corrugated metal cladding and a monumental scale glass entrance door.
The design strives to acknowledge and respect the past while being 100% unapologetically modern in the detailing.
Completed spring 2023.
